John M. English

 
John M. English John English, a life-long resident of St. Clair County, was graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. Benedict's College prior to serving in the U.S. Army (1969-71). Before obtaining his law degree, he worked for the BoilerMakers Local 363. John earned his law degree from St. Louis University School of Law in 1974.

Mr. English has been a fulltime Assistant State's Attorney for St. Clair County and did serve as Chief Prosecutor in 1976. He then entered private practice while retaining a Special Assistant's position with the State's Attorneys office for another approximately 13 years. He has served as a Director for the East St. Louis Bar Association and has served as Special Investigator for the State's Attorneys office of St. Clair County.

In addition to an active private law practice, he serves as school board attorney for Althoff Catholic High School in Belleville and he serves on the Board of Directors for Southern Illinois Area Credit Union. John is on the Illinois State Bar Association Standing Committee for Judicial Appointments. He also currently serves on the pro bono Project for the Land of Lincoln Assistance Foundation sponsored by the St. Clair County Bar Association.

Mr. English's other affiliations include the St. Clair County, East St. Louis and Illinois State Bar Associations, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America as well as memberships in the Knights of Columbus and American Legion. He is currently serving as an officer of the St. Clair County Bar Association.

He and his wife, Angie, reside in Belleville with their three children: Christopher, Jocelyn and Alex.
